Lange Zeit war man sich unsicher ob Schildkröten nun  eher bei den Lepidosauria (Echsen, Schlangen, Brückenechsen) anzuordnen sind oder doch eher bei den Archosauria (Krokodile, Vögel).Jetzt fand man jedoch eindeutig heraus: Schildkröten sind eine Schwestergruppe der Krokodile.

Till now it was not sure weather tortoises are more related to the Lepidosaurs(snakes, lizards) or to the Archosaurs(crocodiles, birds).
But scientists from Boston University now found out that the closest relatives of tortoises are the Archosaurs.
